Police in Wakiso District have arrested a suspect linked to the alleged abuse of an 8-year-old girl following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media.
According to the Police Spokesperson, Rachael Kawala, the suspect, identified as Ssebagala Moses, 39, a boda boda rider and resident of Mabombwe village, was taken into custody in connection with aggravated defilement.
The incident is reported to have occurred on April 16, 2026, in Mabombwe village, Mende Sub-county in Wakiso District.
Preliminary information indicates that the suspect approached two children who were outside their home and allegedly lured them by offering a phone to watch cartoons. He is accused of committing the offence against the 8-year-old victim.
Police say the suspect is currently in custody and will be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
Authorities have strongly condemned all forms of child abuse and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and closely supervise their children.
