The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has announced a heartwarming wildlife milestone following the sighting of a newborn lion cub in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
As shared by Uganda Wildlife Authority, conservationists confirmed that the cub was spotted in good health as it fed alongside its pride on a fresh kill.
The Ishasha team described the discovery as an exciting and encouraging moment for lion conservation efforts in the region, noting that the sighting reflects continued progress in protecting Uganda’s big cat population.
“This is a wonderful sight and a positive sign for the continued conservation of lions in the Ishasha sector,” the authority said, adding that they are optimistic about the cub’s growth and survival in the wild.
Ishasha, located in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, is well known for its famous tree-climbing lions, making it one of Uganda’s most important wildlife tourism attractions. The birth of the cub is expected to further strengthen conservation success stories in the park as monitoring efforts continue.
