Uganda’s coffee market remained firm on 27 July 2026, supported by rising international prices and sustained demand in both the Robusta and Arabica markets.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) Daily Coffee Market Analysis Report, London Robusta futures closed higher across all major contracts, with the September 2026 contract rising by US$49 to US$3,757 per tonne. November, January, March and May contracts also posted gains.
MAAIF attributed the strength in Robusta prices to expectations of a record coffee harvest in Vietnam. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) projects Vietnam’s production to increase by 800,000 bags to 32.5 million bags, driven by expanded acreage and improved yields. The ministry noted that higher global prices have enabled farmers to invest more in fertilisers and other inputs, boosting production prospects.
On the Arabica market, New York futures also closed higher. The September 2026 contract settled at 313.80 US cents per pound, while later contracts recorded modest gains as traders assessed the implications of new US tariff measures on global trade.
Domestically, indicative farmgate prices remained strong. Robusta Screen 18 was quoted at UGX 15,465 per kilogramme, while Screen 15 stood at UGX 15,051 and Screen 12 at UGX 14,802 per kilogramme.
Arabica prices were significantly higher, with Bugisu AA quoted at UGX 25,570 per kilogramme, Bugisu A at UGX 25,487, Bugisu PB at UGX 25,487, Bugisu B at UGX 25,322, and WUGAR at UGX 25,405. Drugar coffee was listed at UGX 23,831 per kilogramme.
The report also showed registered sales of 5,264 bags of Robusta coffee and 650 bags of Drugar coffee on 24 July, reflecting continued activity in Uganda’s coffee trade.
Weekly farmgate price ranges released by MAAIF placed FAQ Robusta at UGX 12,000–13,000 per kilogramme, Kiboko at UGX 5,500–6,500, Arabica Parchment at UGX 16,000–17,000, and clean Drugar coffee at UGX 15,000–16,000 per kilogramme.
Uganda remains one of Africa’s leading coffee exporters, with both Robusta and Arabica continuing to play a central role in export earnings and household incomes.
