Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has called on Members of Parliament to work closely with government institutions to ensure effective service delivery to Ugandans.
Nabbanja made the call during a meeting between the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and Parliament’s Committee on Presidential Affairs held at the OPM offices in Kampala.
The OPM team, led by Nabbanja and the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, briefed the committee on the office’s mandate, key programmes and funding challenges affecting the implementation of government programmes.
The Parliamentary Committee on Presidential Affairs was led by its Chairperson, Hon. Martin Ojara Mapenduzi.
During the engagement, Nabbanja urged committee members to support efforts aimed at ensuring that government programmes translate into tangible services for citizens.
She emphasised the importance of cooperation between Parliament and government institutions in addressing challenges that could hinder the implementation of programmes and delivery of services across the country.
Mapenduzi said the committee is ready to work with government entities while carrying out its constitutional oversight responsibilities.
He noted that the committee would cooperate with institutions under its mandate to ensure that public resources and government programmes ultimately serve the interests of Ugandans.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the committee to understand the operations, priorities and funding needs of the Office of the Prime Minister as it undertakes its oversight role.
