Uganda holds High-Level Dialogue on Durable Solutions for Refugees

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has convened a high-level dialogue on durable solutions for refugees, bringing together government leaders, development partners and refugee-hosting communities to strengthen coordinated efforts towards addressing refugee challenges.

The engagement was organised through the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework Secretariat and attended by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees Lillian Aber.

The dialogue aimed to provide strategic direction and move discussions towards coordinated action in delivering lasting solutions for refugees in Uganda.

The initiative forms part of Uganda’s commitments under the 2023 Global Refugee Forum, where the country made five pledges, including advancing durable solutions for refugees.

Through the engagement, government leaders, partners and refugee-hosting communities sought to strengthen collaboration in implementing measures that address the long-term needs of refugees and support communities hosting them.

The dialogue underscores Uganda’s continued efforts to translate its international refugee commitments into coordinated action.
