The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has exceeded its target for the 2024/2025 financial year, collecting Shs31.63 trillion over Shs262 billion more than its goal of Shs31.37 trillion.
URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujoki said the success came from a strong economy, better tax collection methods, and honest taxpayers. โWeโre excited to announce URA beat its target by over Shs262 billion,โ Musinguzi said. โThis is thanks to our hardworking team, government support, and loyal taxpayers.โhe added.
URA collected Shs21.25 trillion from domestic taxes (up 15.59%) and Shs11.1 trillion from international trade taxes (up 16.23%). Compared to last year, total collections grew by Shs4.3 trillion, a 15.86% increase.
Ugandaโs economy grew by 6.7% this year, with strong activity in services and industries, helping boost tax revenue.
For the 2025/26 financial year, URA has a new target of Shs36.74 trillion, a 17% jump. Musinguzi is confident, โWith better technology like EFRIS, stronger border controls, and taxpayer education, weโll hit or even surpass this goal.โ
URA plans to use artificial intelligence, data tools, and improved monitoring to keep growing revenue. This achievement shows how teamwork and smart strategies are helping Uganda build a brighter future.
