Achraf Hakimi and Ghizlane Chebbak claimed the top individual honours at the CAF Awards 2025 in Rabat on Wednesday, giving Morocco a double victory on home soil as Africa recognised its standout performers of the year.
The ceremony brought together players, coaches and former stars from across the continent.
Hakimi was named CAF Men’s Player of the Year after a standout season with Paris Saint-Germain, where he won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, French Ligue 1, Coupe de France and reached the FIFA Club World Cup final. He also helped Morocco qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He becomes the first defender to win the award since Bwanga Tshimen in 1973 and the first Moroccan recipient since Mustapha Hadji in 1998.

Chebbak won the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award after finishing top scorer at the 2025 WAFCON, where Morocco finished runners-up to Nigeria. She joined Saudi side Al-Hilal at the start of the 2025–26 season and is the first Moroccan to win the women’s award.
Morocco also claimed the men’s Goalkeeper of the Year award through Yassine Bounou, who featured in the Best XI at the FIFA Club World Cup. Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie retained the women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third consecutive year.
Cape Verde coach Bubista won the CAF Men’s Coach of the Year award after guiding his country to its first-ever FIFA World Cup qualification. The Women’s Coach of the Year will be announced after the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.

DR Congo forward Fiston Mayele won the Men’s Interclub Player of the Year after finishing as top scorer in the 2024–25 CAF Champions League and helping Pyramids win the title. The women’s interclub award will also be announced at the end of the Champions League.
Morocco’s success continued with Othmane Maamma named Men’s Young Player of the Year after starring in Morocco’s FIFA U20 World Cup triumph. Doha El Madani retained the Women’s Young Player of the Year after winning the Morocco Women’s Championship with AS FAR and leading scoring at the CAF Women’s Futsal Nations Cup.

Morocco’s U20 team was named Men’s National Team of the Year after their World Cup win, while Nigeria’s Super Falcons retained the Women’s National Team of the Year award following their 2024 WAFCON victory.
Pyramids were named Men’s Club of the Year after their Champions League success. Goal of the Year went to Tanzania’s Clement Mzize for his long-range strike for Young Africans against TP Mazembe, the only award decided by fans.
