The Registrar Special Duties, HW Harriet Ssali, has officiated at the swearing-in of Colonel Engineer Robert Namudongo as a new member of the Engineers Registration Board.
The ceremony, held today, was chaired by the Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala, and attended by the Ministry’s Under Secretary and members of the Board.
Speaking at the event, Gen. Katumba Wamala underscored the central role of the Engineers Registration Board in safeguarding standards within the sector. He noted that the quality of roads, buildings and public utilities across the country depends on strict adherence to professional engineering standards.
He said the appointment of Col. Namudongo brings valuable experience to the Board, particularly from his service in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.
The Minister highlighted the contribution of the UPDF Engineering Brigade in delivering infrastructure projects, often in difficult terrain, describing its work as critical to national development.
He urged the newly sworn-in member to serve with integrity, transparency and professionalism in executing his duties.
Gen. Katumba also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Board to ensure infrastructure delivered across the country meets required standards of safety, quality and value for money.
