Uganda’s High Commissioner to Dar es Salaam, Fred Mwesigye, has visited the PRO Heli International Service Centre in Nakasongola District as part of efforts to promote Uganda’s aviation and defence industry capabilities.
The envoy toured the facility on May 6, 2026, where he was received by the centre’s leadership led by Deputy CEO Rtd Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Kwihangana alongside heads of operations, technical services, and commercial departments.

During the visit, the High Commissioner inspected several sections of the facility including the bonded warehouse, electroplating unit, mechanical department, main hangar, carpentry workshop, and fuel testing hangar.
Officials at PRO Heli said the centre, commissioned by President Yoweri Museveni in 2022, specializes in helicopter overhaul, maintenance, and repair services. The company also operates Africa’s first tail rotor overhaul workshop for Mi-series helicopters and provides aircraft sourcing, inspections, consultancy, and upgrade services.

Amb. Mwesigye commended the progress made at the facility and pledged to market PRO Heli’s capabilities in the countries where he serves as Uganda’s representative, saying the centre reflects Uganda’s growing capacity in aviation and defence technology.
