The Office of the Prime Minister has received another donation of food and other essential supplies to support communities affected by hunger in the Karamoja sub-region.
The donation, received by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, includes 50 metric tonnes of rice, six metric tonnes of sugar and 1,000 pieces of clothing.
The supplies were donated by the Nile Humanitarian Development Agency, Galaxy International School and the Turkish community in Uganda.
Nabbanja thanked the organisations and individuals involved for responding to the needs of communities affected by food insecurity in Karamoja.
The donations will be distributed to hunger-affected communities in the sub-region as government and humanitarian partners continue efforts to respond to the situation.
Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Relief and Refugees Sam Engola also commended the donors for supporting the people of Karamoja, saying the assistance would contribute to government’s relief efforts.
The latest contribution comes as the Office of the Prime Minister continues to receive support from well-wishers to assist communities facing food shortages in Karamoja.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nabbanja also received the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Wu Guangrong, for discussions on bilateral cooperation.
The Chinese envoy pledged continued support to the Ugandan government in various sectors as the two countries work together to promote development.
