Police in Kampala are investigating the death of Matovu Moses, a musician with Afrigo Band, following a suspected attack in Makindye Division.
According to the Uganda Police Force, Moses was attacked early Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Kibuli Depot in Makindye Division. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kibuli Hospital by a boda boda rider, where he later died.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Moses had gone to the residence of his girlfriend at about 5:30 a.m. and was allegedly attacked by a man who is believed to have previously been in a relationship with the same woman.
Police said the incident may have followed a physical altercation, although investigators are still working to establish the exact circumstances that led to Moses’ injuries and subsequent death.
The woman who was with Moses has been arrested and remains in police custody to assist with investigations.
Police said the male suspect has been identified but is believed to have fled the scene. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.
The Police task team is continuing to gather evidence and verify accounts surrounding the incident.
Police have appealed to the public to remain calm and allow investigators to establish the facts of the case, while extending condolences to Moses’ family, friends, colleagues and fans.
