Major General Oscar Munanura Appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security UPDF

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has promoted Brigadier Oscar Munanura to the rank of Acting Major General and appointed him the new Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security (CDIS) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).

Munanura previously served as Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security under Major General Richard Otto, who has been reassigned to the Joint Staff Human Resource Management for redeployment.

The leadership change places Munanura at the helm of the UPDF’s Defence Intelligence and Security function following his service as deputy to the outgoing chief.

In a statement, the UPDF fraternity congratulated Munanura on his promotion and appointment, while commending Maj Gen Otto for his work during his tenure.

The force also wished both officers success as they take on their new responsibilities.
