The Territorial Police in KMP East and Nakifuma are actively searching for Otim Jolly Joe, the Headteacher of Grace Day Care Orphanage Primary School, for the Aggravated Defilement of a 14-year-old primary pupil of the school in August 2023, at Busenya village, Nakifuma, Nagalama Town Council.
It was established that during holidays, the suspect sent for the victim to come to his home. When the victim entered the room, the suspect closed the door, forcefully undressed the victim, and sexually assaulted her. In September, he gave the victim Ugx 5000= for a medical checkup, and she was found to be pregnant. Again on 30.09.2023, the suspect gave the victim Ugx 60,000= to carry out an abortion, which medical workers objected to, alerting the school Director and the victim’s mother.
In a separate incident, the police in Greater Bushenyi and Bushenyi district have in custody an 18-year-old male suspect, Amanya Cryton, of Buhuma cell, Ishaka division, for the Aggravated Defilement of two 7-year-old female twin juveniles and primary pupils, on 4.10.2023 at around 6 pm.
The facts gathered indicate that one of the twins ran to her mother at Kijumo trading center and told her how the suspect attempted to defile them both. The mother rushed home and found her other twin daughter naked and defiled. The victim revealed that it was the third occasion the suspect had defiled her. The complainant alerted the LC 1 chairman who caused the suspect’s arrest. During the medical examination, it was established that the suspect had repeatedly defiled the female twins. The suspect is related to the mother of the victims and was the one taking care of the victims as the mother went for her normal duties as a shop attendant.
The Police strongly condemn such acts of child sexual abuse by teachers and caretakers, who are looked at as protectors and defenders of the rights of children, especially the girl child. The police teams have directed resources to arrest the Headteacher on the run, Otim Jolly, as they charge Amanya Cryton to court with two counts of Aggravated Defilement.
