UNBS Board undertakes Field Monitoring Tour of Oil and Gas Activities in Albertine Region

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards Board has embarked on a field monitoring tour of oil and gas sector activities in Uganda’s Albertine region, as part of efforts to strengthen compliance with national standards.

The exercise, coordinated by the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, focuses on enhancing standardization, quality assurance, testing, and metrology within the sector. Officials say the initiative is key to promoting sustainable development and ensuring that operations meet required safety and quality benchmarks.

Speaking during the tour, UNBS Executive Director James Kasigwa emphasized the significance of the oil and gas industry to Uganda’s economy, noting that it represents the country’s largest investment. He underscored the critical role of standards in safeguarding these investments and ensuring they deliver long-term value.

The monitoring visit is expected to provide insights into current practices on the ground and identify areas for improvement, reinforcing the government’s commitment to building a robust and sustainable oil and gas sector.
