Ministry of Education highlights 40 years of transformation in Education and Sports sector under NRM Government

The Ministry of Education and Sports has highlighted the major achievements registered in Uganda’s education and sports sector over the last 40 years under the NRM government. The developments cover expansion in access to education, growth in universities and TVET institutions, improvements in science education, gender parity, sports infrastructure, and policy reforms.

According to the Ministry, the sector has transformed from limited access in 1986 to a broad nationwide system serving millions of learners across public and private institutions. The Ministry says these milestones reflect the government’s long-term investment in education, training, research, and sports development.

The statement comes ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in for another five-year term in office on May 12, 2026. The Ministry, led by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni, says the progress demonstrates the country’s journey of recovery, rehabilitation, and transformation under the NRM administration.
