Gen Muhoozi Hosts Rwandan Counterpart Gen Muganga to Deepen Uganda-Rwanda Military Cooperation

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, hosted his Rwandan counterpart, Gen Mubarakh Muganga, for a dinner gathering at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel in Kigo.

Gen Kainerugaba extended his appreciation to Gen Muganga for the visit and lauded the strong military ties between Uganda and Rwanda. He credited the enduring bilateral relationship to the visionary leadership of Presidents Yoweri Museveni and Paul Kagame.

In response, Gen Muganga expressed his heartfelt thanks for the warm hospitality, remarking that he proudly regards Uganda as his second home.

The Rwandan general was in Uganda to deliver a lecture to UPDF officers at the Senior Command and Staff College located in Kimaka, Jinja.

Gen Muganga joined the NRA/UPDF in 1985 and undertook his initial military training at Singo in Nakaseke District. He later advanced his training under the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) at the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy (NCOA) at Gaddafi Barracks in Jinja. In 1988, he enrolled in the Officer Cadet Course at the School of Infantry in Jinja and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1989.

Both generals reaffirmed their dedication to continued cooperation in ensuring the security of their respective nations and the wider region.

Gen Muganga was accompanied by Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, while the UPDF’s Commander Land Forces (CLF), Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba, along with other senior officers from the UPDF, Police, and Prisons, were also in attendance at the dinner.
