Uganda Showcases Tourism Potential at the Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT)

The Ugandan stand attracted significant attention at the closing of the Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT) in Moscow, with a large number of visitors, including prospective tourists, operators, and tour agents, expressing strong interest in Uganda as a preferred travel destination.

On the third day of the exhibition, staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Moscow, together with Ugandan exhibitors, showcased the country’s rich and vibrant cultural heritage by dressing in traditional attire. The display featured the Kanzu, Busuuti, Gomesi, and the Nakatukok attire of the Karamojong men, reflecting Uganda’s diverse culture and traditions. The cultural presentation attracted many visitors, offering a unique opportunity to highlight Uganda’s authentic cultural experiences to potential tourists.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Embassy, led by H.E. Moses K. Kizige, the Head of Mission, together with Mission staff, organized a Business-to-Business (B2B) workshop as part of a strategic engagement initiative. The workshop brought together a delegation of 32 Ugandan tour operators and more than 102 Russian tour companies and travel operators, facilitating direct networking and partnership opportunities.

Feedback from the engagements indicates that Ugandan tour operators secured more than 50 preliminary tour bookings from Russian individual travelers and tour companies. This outcome demonstrates the growing interest of the Russian market in Uganda’s tourism offerings, including its wildlife, natural landscapes, and cultural heritage.

The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Moscow and the Government of Uganda reaffirmed their continued commitment to promoting Uganda as a premier tourism destination by supporting the private sector and further strengthening the friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Uganda and Russia.
