The remains of the late King of Tooro, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, are expected to arrive in Uganda on Friday morning ahead of his official burial.
According to the official programme, the aircraft carrying the King’s remains is scheduled to arrive at Entebbe International Airport at 10:00am on 4 September 2026, where President Yoweri Museveni will lead the reception.
Officials from Tooro Kingdom are expected to arrive at the airport from 8:30am, followed by government ministers at 9:00am. President Museveni is scheduled to arrive at 9:50am and proceed to the Presidential Lounge.
Following the arrival of the aircraft, the President will proceed to the flag mast to receive the King’s remains.
The Queen Mother will then disembark from the aircraft and join President Museveni at the reception area.
Uganda Police will drape the casket in both the Uganda national colours and Tooro Kingdom colours before it is wheeled through a guard of honour mounted by the police.
The casket will then be placed at a designated point in front of the President, who will pay his final respects and lay a wreath.
It will subsequently be moved to a waiting helicopter.
President Museveni is also scheduled to hold a brief meeting with the Queen Mother and five selected members of the Royal Family at the Presidential Lounge.
The delegation accompanying the King’s remains is expected to leave Entebbe by helicopter for Kyegegwa District at 11:05am.
