The outgoing Inspector General of Police, John Martins Okoth Ochola, handed over office to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi, upon the expiry of his contract. Ochola has served the force for 36 years, with six years at the helm of the force as the Inspector General of Police. IGP Ochola assumed office in 2018 after General Kale Kayihura. Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi will serve in the acting capacity pending the appointing authority’s designation of a new IGP.
