Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba Donates Sports Equipment and UGX 10 Million to Support Tooro Kingdom Inter-Clans Football Tournament

The Chief of Defence Forces and Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has contributed sports gear and a cash donation of UGX 10 million to support the forthcoming Tooro Kingdom Inter-Clans Football Tournament. The tournament is set to begin on April 7, 2026, with the final scheduled for May 4, 2026.

The donation was formally presented on his behalf by Brigadier General Richard Karemire, Joint Staff for Formal Education, Sports and Culture, to Hon. Eng. Kateeba Divine Francis Atwoki, the Tooro Kingdom Minister for Education, Youth and Sports.

According to the Chief of Defence Forces, the support package, which comprises football equipment and financial support, is aimed at ensuring the successful organisation of the tournament.

Gen Kainerugaba praised the leadership and citizens of the Tooro Kingdom for their historic relationship with and backing of the National Resistance Army and later the Uganda People’s Defence Forces since the liberation war. He reiterated the UPDF’s dedication to supporting initiatives that encourage national cohesion, community progress, and youth participation through sports.

While receiving the contribution, Hon. Kateeba expressed appreciation to Gen Kainerugaba and the UPDF fraternity for the assistance, noting that the gesture demonstrates the force’s community-oriented approach.

He also highlighted the value of enhancing cooperation between cultural institutions and security agencies, adding that cultural and sporting activities play a vital role in preserving heritage while fostering unity among communities.

The event was attended by Maj Henry Mwijuka, the UPDF Staff Officer responsible for Sports.
