Uganda Embassy in Copenhagen Launches Outdoor Campaign to Attract Nordic Tourists

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK | 22 June 2026

Uganda’s Embassy in Copenhagen has launched an outdoor tourism marketing campaign aimed at raising the country’s profile among Danish and Nordic travellers.

The “Explore Uganda” campaign was launched by Uganda’s Ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Margaret M. Otesskov, at Copenhagen Central Station, one of the busiest public transport hubs in the Danish capital.

The campaign will run across selected public transport routes in Copenhagen, giving Uganda visibility among daily commuters and potential travellers in the Nordic market.

The Embassy says the campaign is targeting travellers looking for nature, adventure, culture and sustainable tourism experiences beyond traditional holiday destinations.

The Nordic region is considered a high-value tourism market, with travellers known for strong spending power, environmental awareness, and interest in wildlife, adventure and cultural travel.

The campaign showcases Uganda’s key attractions, including mountain gorillas, the Rwenzori Mountains, tree-climbing lions, wildlife safaris, cultural heritage and local food experiences.

The push comes as Uganda continues to record recovery in tourism and aviation traffic. Entebbe International Airport handled 2,243,104 international passengers in 2024, up from 1,932,094 in 2023.

International arrivals reached 1,117,412 in 2024. In the first half of 2025, Entebbe recorded 550,439 international arrivals, a 4.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The Embassy says the Nordic campaign is part of efforts to diversify Uganda’s tourism source markets, with Europe still playing an important role in visitor arrivals.

The campaign is expected to strengthen Uganda’s visibility in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland, and position the country as a destination for wildlife, adventure, culture and nature-based tourism.

The Embassy says it will continue working with the Uganda Tourism Board, tour operators, airlines, travel media and other partners to promote Uganda across the Nordic region.
