Bukedea Leaders Unite in Rare Show of Solidarity to Boost Service Delivery

Bukedea district leaders have pledged to work together in a rare show of political unity aimed at improving service delivery and accelerating development across the district.

The commitment was made during a luncheon held at Hotel Africana following the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected leaders, an event that attracted political leaders, supporters, and residents from Bukedea.

Speaking during the gathering, the Speaker of Parliament thanked the people of Bukedea and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for entrusting her with leadership responsibilities. She noted that unity among leaders is essential for transforming the district and ensuring that the needs of the people are addressed quickly and effectively.

“Unity among leaders is the foundation for development and better service delivery,” the Speaker said. “Our goal is to ensure that the interests and voices of the people of Bukedea are always put first.”

She praised the 11th Parliament for what she described as strong performance since its inception and promised to continue championing the concerns of ordinary Ugandans. The Speaker also expressed confidence that the same unity demonstrated by Bukedea leaders would continue into the 12th Parliament.

“The spirit of teamwork we are seeing today will continue because we are committed to delivering for our people,” she added.

Bukedea Members of Parliament Hon. Beecham David Okwere and Hon. Opolot Shagi also pledged to work together for the good of the district. Hon. Opolot emphasized the need for leaders at all levels to focus on service delivery rather than political disagreements.

“This time, we do not want to waste time on unnecessary politics. From Members of Parliament to LC1 leaders, everyone must focus on serving the people,” Opolot said.

Hon. Okwere described the Bukedea leadership as united and determined to move in one direction.

“We speak one language and move together without interference because our focus is development,” he said.

NRM Chairperson for Bukedea District, Epilo Isaac, attributed the unity to inclusive leadership and a shared understanding among leaders about their responsibilities to the people.

The Speaker’s Personal Assistant Akol Ziporah, highlighted several ongoing development initiatives, including sanitation campaigns, the distribution of Anita Okwere liquid soap, the purchase of an ambulance, and support for women and youth groups.

“Bukedea is steadily developing because leaders are working together and putting the people first,” She noted.

District councilor and musician Otinga Johnson described the unity among Bukedea leaders as “unmatched,” saying it marked a major shift from previous political divisions in the district.

Residents also welcomed the cooperation among leaders. Rukiah Apolot, a supporter of the NRM, praised the Speaker for prioritizing the welfare of the people.

“The Speaker has shown commitment to serving both Bukedea and the nation, and that is why people continue to trust her leadership,” she said.

The event ended with optimism among residents, many expressing hope that the unity among leaders would translate into improved services and faster development across Bukedea District.
